About the Coat of Arms of Bolnisi
The argent so-called "Bolnisi cross", depicted in the shield of the Coat of Arms, expresses the historical-architectural building of basilica style - the Bolnisi Sioni, with the most ancient Georgian script in capital letters. The motto of the Coat of Arms, depicted in capital letters on the scroll, indicates to the same fact (the motto of the Coat of Arms of Bolnisi is the exception amongst the Municipal Coats of Arms of Georgia - the mottos on all Municipal Coats of Arms are depicted in cavalry letters). Usage of the objects and the colors (gules, argent), depicted on the shield of the Coat of Arms, has the historical ground and is based on the historical documents of the XVIII-XIX centuries. The basic source is the Coats of Arms, created by Vakhushti Batonishvili, where Kartli region is depicted in gules. At the same time, the colors: gules and argent express justice, purity and wisdom of Bolnisi residents. The triple-towered castellated (castle-shape) argent city crown with semi-open gate and the motto "Bolnisi", scripted in capital letters, depicted above the shield, express the additional identification means, defying the status and affiliation of the Municipality. |
